The Project - Section VI
The Secretaries of State and Municipal Health of Paraná have constantly emphasized the need to accommodate the enormous demand in the area of ophthalmology. The medical assistance in this specialty provided by the government (SUS) is restricted to University Hospitals.
The Ophthalmology Service of the Clinical Hospital of the Federal University of Paraná has grown rapidly and expanded its activities in the context of the University. This expansion, both medical and academic, has induced the Administration Council of the Clinical Hospital of UFPR to seek partners to assist and sustain the expansion. The creation of postgraduate courses (Master and Ph.D.) in Ophthalmology is an important factor in the increasing role and the progress of the Center.
Objectives:
To increase the medical ophthalmology facilities to meet the growing needs of the community.
To increase the academic studies of ophthalmology to maintain the level of graduate and postgraduate courses within the University.
